With over 130 years of combined musical experience, Ask The Dog are proof that authentic, good-time music only gets better with age.

Based in Bognor Regis, the five-piece balance full-time jobs, families, and real-life commitments with an unquestionable passion for making music together. While the band’s origins date back around 12 years, the current lineup settled into its perfect groove three years ago—bringing together a shared sense of humor, tight-knit chemistry, and sharp songwriting. (And as for the name? After endless debates trying to agree on what to call themselves, someone finally threw their hands up and said, “Best ask the dog…”—and the rest was history!)

The band are a staple of the local live music scene playing pubs, clubs, and private parties across the region. They are known for packing dance floors with an extensive setlist of feel-good covers spanning the decades—delivering crowd-pleasing hits across Rock, Pop, Blues, Indie, and beyond.

Their featured track on Small Geezers, “Bad Decisions”, was born straight out of that light-hearted studio camaraderie. What started as a late-night rehearsal laugh reminiscing about past mistakes quickly turned into a songwriting spark. Drummer Eddie penned the lyrics, initially intending it to be a heavy rock tune. But when the rock arrangement didn’t quite land, George stepped in with a fresh musical perspective, guiding the track toward a laid-back, country-infused groove that immediately clicked. With every member chipping in to adapt and polish their parts, “Bad Decisions” became a true team effort— a true classic crafted by four local musicians who simply love creating great tunes together.
